Amit Mondal - chapda the beautiful village of purba medinipur district of west bengal. it's under panskura 2 (kolaghat) c.d.block. it's latitudinal and longitudinal extension are 22°32'13"n & 87°65'92"e. climate of this village categorised under subtropical monsoon. the square shaped village carrying about 1500 people. all the member in this village are hindu. main educational centres are chapda pry., icds & junior high school. politically this village is very sensitive,because every five years later change the dominant party. young generation involve in games like football, cricket, volleyball etc. main occupations of the inhabitants in this village are cultivation, farming,fishing, hosiery production & govt. job. this village is famous for horticulture and earthen port making. huge number of pond situated in this village. deulia -khanyadihi road flows in the middle of this village, that is the life-line of this region. chapda ananda mela (village fair), sitala mayer gan (religious song), sang (go as you like) and jattra (theatre), shiver gajan, ma santoshi, durga, kali, lakshmi, saraswati pujo are popular villagers entertainment and festivals. shiva, sitala mata temples are famous place in this village. chapda cannel in the south is the main source of irrigation water. two times flood occurred in 1978 & 1997's. that long-term effected the socio-economic conditions of villagers. social integration is the soul of this village. lt. manmatha nath mondal is the first teacher in this village.
